____zoom in & out! ^
Kuala Lumpur is located in Selangor, towards the south-west of peninsula Malaysia. It covers a land area of 243 km2 while Selangor covers 8,104 km2 and peninsula Malaysia covering 131,598 km2. It has latitude of about 3.1333° North, and 101.6833° East longitude, which is also in the equator, therefore Kuala Lumpur experiences a tropical rainforest climate. it is hot and humid with an average temperature of 27° and 250cm of precipitation in a year. KL is located near the West border of Malaysia, which is where the Indian Ocean is located. This meant that Kuala Lumpur has a more stable temperature compared to somewhere in the middle of penninsula malaysia because large bodies of water can cool the land. Kuala Lumpur means muddy river confluence when translated from Malay. This is mainly because Kuala Lumpur stands in the confluence of Klang River and Gombak River.

The population of Kuala Lumpur in 2010 was 1,674,513, making it the most populated city in Malaysia. Its population density was 6,891 persons per km2 while the national's population density is 86 persons per km2 in 2010.
This population pyramid shows how many females and males there are in each age group during 2011, Kuala Lumpur.
The main industrial of Kuala Lumpur is tertiary jobs, it employs 89% of the workforce of Kuala Lumpur.
Financial services, insurance and real estate industry, health care services, government service, tourism, transport and education are examples of tertiary jobs and they are everywhere in Kuala Lumpur . This is because Kuala Lumpur is an urban city where big companies, political buildings, shopping malls, tourist attraction, business opportunities are, therefore these jobs are needed there.

Since there will be more jobs opportunities, more choices of health care and education, people would choose to live in there or close to it. To add on, Kuala Lumpur is a urban city where it is very convenient to get around, to buy food or shop etc. Therefore, this explains why it is so much more populated in Kuala Lumpur compared to other cities in Malaysia.
Both of these maps show the population distribution in Malaysia

The major ethnic groups in Kuala Lumpur are Malays, Chinese and Indian;
- Malays: 44.2%
- Chinese: 43.2%
- Indians: 10.3%
- Other: 1.8%
Comparing this data with Malaysia’s Ethnic group, we can see that there are not as much Chinese in Malaysia, however a concentrated amount of Malays. This shows that there are a lot more Chinese that are working in the urban city area than other parts of Malaysia and that there are a lot more Malays working in rural areas. (Bumiputera refers to Malaysian Malays that are native)

This is another pie chart of what beliefs and or religion there are in Malaysia and how many percent of each religion. This pie chart also tells us what culture and language is spoken more. When compared back to the previous pie-chart, it makes sense, for example; the percentage of the Islamics is the highest, this is because there are alot of Malays, and most to all of the Malays are Islamics.
Overall, the city is growing, although death rates are rising, so are birth rates. However the growth rates were higher in the past than in 2010. Kuala Lumpur is also growing in terms of advance technology, more business and building are placed in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. This attracts more people to work there as there are more job opportunities.
